Cluster Bombs

Postcard Campaign

Help end the indiscriminate maiming and killing caused by U.S. cluster munitions. Urge your senator to co-sponsor the Cluster Munitions Civilian Protection Act (S.416/H.R. 981) by sending a postcard with a prepared message.

You may order a quantity of postcards from MCC for use in your congregation, Sunday School class, small group or school.

MCC helped begin the cluster bomb removal project in Laos in 1994, and participated in the international effort to ban cluster bombs which led to an international treaty in 2008. The U.S. opposed the treaty and did not sign. This postcard campaign is part of a broader effort to urge the U.S. to stop its use of cluster munitions.

On the back of the postcard, print your name, address, and zip code. On the right side of the card, print the name of your senator or representative, along with the appropriate address:

U.S. Senate U.S.
Washington, D.C. 20510

House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515

Alternatively, to avoid the delay caused by mail screening for congressional offices in Washington D.C., you may want to send your postcards to your congresspersons district office in your home state.

Place a stamp in the top right hand corner and send.

To find out if your Senator or Representative is already a co-sponsor of the bill, go to: Thomas.loc.gov, click on the bill # circle, and type in the appropriate bill number (S.417 or HR 981). Click on co-sponsors and the relevant listing will appear.

For more information about Mr. Ta Douangchom, pictured on the front of the card, go to the cluster bomb survivor’s blog (blog.banadvocates.org) and find his name on the list on the right-hand side of the page.

You may request a quantity of 10 or more postcards from MCC by contacting the MCC store: (717) 859-1151 or visiting: mccstore.org
